21 Days of Prayer – Day 6

 In Fasting, Prayer

Romans 10:9-10 says: 9. because, if you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. 10. For with the heart one believes and is justified, and with the mouth one confesses and is saved.

These verses aren’t quoted very often when it comes to the topic of prayer but I think there is something inhere that is very crucial to seeing fruit in our prayer.

Many of us have what I call “bigger than us” prayers on the inside of us. You know, those things that God is stirring our faith for, those things that we see that God could do in BIG ways, those things that have to do with our family, church, city, world and so on. There are dreams in our heart that are way bigger than us. We believe it!

That’s where it ends for a lot of people. We “believe in our heart”. That’s good but that’s just part of it! I don’t think it’s enough just to “believe in our heart”. There’s something about the second part that we don’t see as important for some reason. Maybe it’s because it’s awkward for some or because it may seem unnecessary to us. I mean, why “confess with my mouth” when I already “believe in my heart”? Let’s just say that there’s something about the spoken word that is important to God. In fact, if you remember, that’s how he created all of this anyway!

So there you are with your “bigger than us” prayer in your heart. Do something more today…confess it out loud to God. Speak it out! There’s something about the spoken words that changes things. Inner prayers are fine but that’s just the start…God intended us to have a voice!
