Family Weekend

THIS Saturday & Sunday – May 28th & 29th

Family weekend is a time for our elementary kids (K-5th grade) to join their family in the auditorium for worship and the message. Early Childhood classrooms (5 Months through Preschool age) will be OPEN during all three services. We also have a live video feed and space in our nursery lobby for parents to use.

June Marriage Focus

This is an opportunity to consistently set aside time to invest in your marriage relationship alongside a community of like-minded believers. Offered on the first Sunday of most months, each Marriage Focus will be unique in content. You and your spouse will be equipped, encouraged, and empowered to strengthen your marriage relationship in a wide variety of topics. The Lord has something powerful in store for your marriage! Snacks and coffee will be served.

Childcare is available with limited capacity. Follow the separate childcare link in the description of the Marriage Focus registration to reserve spaces for your children.

New to Journey? Join us for First Impressions

Saturday, June 4th following the 6pm Service

Are you new to Journey Church? You and your family are invited to a brief informational session called “First Impressions”. You will meet some friendly people and get a snapshot of what Journey Church offers in a relaxed environment.

No registration is required. We will meet at the front of the auditorium near the drums. Email connections@journeykc.com if you have questions.

Water Baptism Services

Saturday, June 11th at 6pm
Sunday, June 12th at 9:30am & 11:15am

Sign up in advance to be water baptized in one of these Water Baptism Services. Choose your Service Time when you sign up.

There are 10 open spots for baptism for each Service. We will schedule more baptisms for an additional weekend if we have more people who need to be baptized. Email Jeremy at jeremy@journeykc.com if you have any questions.

Discover the Journey

Sunday, June 12th from 11:15am-2pm
Pizza & Salad will be provided for lunch

This class is for ages 18 and over. Registration is required. We will meet in Auditorium 2, start at the beginning of the 11:15am Service and continue until around 2pm.

Childcare is available for ages 10 and under. Your kids will start in the 11:15am Journey Kids Service or Early Childhood Classrooms, then join you for lunch and with our Discover the Journey childcare after that. Email becky@journeykc.com if you have questions about how this will work.

Discover the Journey is the starting point for anyone who is ready to take the next step toward participating, connecting, and becoming more involved at Journey Church.

By the time you have completed Discover the Journey you will know…

• The history of Journey Church
• The way Journey Church is structured and governed
• Our beliefs, vision, and mission
• Our specific beliefs on what the Bible says about the Holy Spirit and spiritual gifts
• The calling, direction, and future for Journey Church and your part in it

Once you have completed Discover the Journey, many opportunities for connecting, serving, and growing with us become available. It is our desire to see you become a part of Team Journey, and Discover the Journey is where to begin.

Journey Kids Vacation Bible School

Vacation Bible School for Kids who have just finished PreK (or age 5) through 5th Grade.

Growing spiritually doesn’t have to be an unsolved mystery! Come take a journey with kid detectives as they dig into a few of Jesus’ parables to solve the mysteries of how to grow their faith, how to care for, serve, and love others.

They’ll discover that the answers have been there all along: spend time with God, spend time with others, use your gifts, and share your story.

Volunteer at VBS

Volunteers are essential to making VBS successful for our kids. We have many areas we need your help in. Sign up using the link above where you can choose which area you are most interested in helping us with.

If you do not currently work in our kids ministry, we require a background check and a reference. We will be in contact with you to get this process started after you let us know that you want to serve.

Child Dedications

Saturday, August 20th at 6pm
Sunday, August 21st at 9:30am or 11:15am

You will choose your weekend service time when you sign up. Child Dedications are a public way of expressing your desire as parents to raise your son or daughter in Christlikeness. (Proverbs 22:6, Deuteronomy 6:5-7)

This also gives your friends and family at Journey Church an opportunity to commit to support and pray for your family as you train your children to be fully devoted followers of Jesus. (Mark 10:13-16)

Volunteer at the Harvesters Food Pantry Outreach

Journey Outreach is excited to partner with Harvesters Food Network to serve our community with a monthly Mobile Food Pantry. This will take place every 3rd Saturday of the month at Journey Church.

We need several volunteers to make this a success! We DO need you to sign up in advance. Ages 8 and up can serve. Join your church family and let’s serve our community!

Get involved in Journey Outreach

Journey Outreach has many opportunities that you can get involved in. Here is a list of a few areas where you can potentially serve.

• Meals Ministry – This is an opportunity to show support to Journey families by providing a meal and delivering the meal. This is a great opportunity to meet the families, pray for them and provide a meal during their time of need.

• Harvesters Mobile Food Pantry – We need 30 volunteers every month. You can help set up signs and cones, direct traffic, sign in families as they arrive, load food into vehicles, pray with those who come through the line and help clean up.

• Household Essential Bags Outreach on June 17th – We will be filling bags with household items and delivering them to an apartment complex here in Liberty.

• Camp CUMCITO – Volunteer to serve a week at camp.

• Pray and Support Missionaries – Robert from India and the Phillips family in Thailand

• Journey Foster Families – We are collecting gift cards for the baskets that we will be giving to the foster families at Journey.

• CarePortal – Journey is involved with supporting local foster/adopt families and helping to keep families together by partnering with the CarePortal. We need more volunteers to help meet the needs that come in. This also gives them the opportunity to partner with the entire community and to personally meet the families which leads to connection and relationship.

• Hillcrest Hope Apartment – There are volunteer opportunities to help maintain the apartment and build a relationship with the clients.

• Back to School Backpacks

• Sleep in Heavenly Peace – Participate in a Build Day Outreach building beds with the goal of not letting any child sleep on the floor in our local area.

• Operation Christmas Child

• Thanksgiving and Christmas Outreach Events and Opportunities

Volunteer at Camp CUMCITO

City Union Mission Camp CUMCITO offers a one-week Summer Bible Camp experience to over 600 at-risk children and teens each year primarily serving youth from urban Kansas City. You have the opportunity to volunteer this Summer at the camp. This is a great opportunity to go on a NO COST Missions Trip without having to leave Missouri.

Saturday, June 18th will be city wide training for all camp staff. Send an email to outreach@journeykc.com to see how you can get involved.

Journey Church Worship Album
